Last week it was announced that Floor Jansen has signed a record deal with ADA, the distribution division of Warner Music Group. The partnership starts today with the release of the first single "Fire", written by Jansen together with Gordon Groothedde and Wouter Hardy. Her first solo album is expected in early 2023.
Floor Jansen: "This song is the official launch of my solo career and I am "On FIRE" about it! It's a very big step for me as a singer and songwriter, as a musician. It was and is a wonderful challenge to develop my solo sound and image. That's why this release is so special; a first introduction to my music, as Floor Jansen solo".
Floor was only 16 when she joined her first band, After Forever. They released five albums before breaking up in 2009. Jansen then formed a new band called ReVamp, which she was still involved with when the invitation came to sing with Nightwish on their 2012 US tour. Jansen became the regular singer of Nightwish in 2013. Since then, the band has released two studio albums, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" and "Human. :II: Nature".
In 2019, Jansen participated in the TV programme "Best Singers", where "Phantom of The Opera", performed with Henk Poort, became a big hit. In the same year, she was awarded the prestigious Pop Prize. Thanks to this success, her first solo shows were sold out in less than 24 hours. Next month, Jansen will appear in the German version of Beste Zangers, Sing Meinen Song. This year, Jansen will also be the Dutch ambassador for Record Store Day, which will take place on 23 April. In May, Jansen will embark on the long-awaited world tour with Nightwish, which was postponed due to the pandemic. She will also put the finishing touches to her solo album, which is due out next year.
